Finding my Way

Well blogger friends I don't know where you are but, where I live it is storming pretty crazy. We have gotten 12 inches of rain in 4 days. Now the wind is picking up. So I am staying in today planning my week. I got to thinking and I have decided to start a relay team for relay for life. I am going to ask my employer if I can use our business to help promote the team. I love walking anyway and what better a way to get exercise than to combine a charitable contribution with exercise. Like so many cancer has affected my friends and family, including  several people I work with. Two years ago we lost a co-worker to mouth cancer which spread to his sinuses, after a seven year battle. A year ago a co-worker lost his wife to appendix cancer. While another co-worker's wife is fighting against breast cancer right now. Unfortunately, this nasty illness is no stranger to my family either. My husband lost his mom after fighting breast cancer for twenty four, yes twenty four years. She was first diagnosed when he was three and a half years old. She went into remission for fourteen years before it came back. The brave woman fought to stay alive for another ten years before she passed. Additionally, my cousin fought breast cancer almost six years ago and is now in remission. This is why I feel the need to support this cause. What better a way than to rally up good friends and co-workers to share in this fight. This is one of the ways I am going to give back this year. I hope you find your cause and pay it forward.

Happy Sunday!

Let's Get it Started!

Sorry I have been out of the loop the past few months. I have a lot going on with work and trying to buy a house. You all know the drill..blah.

I know that 2012 is going to be one heck of a year! I am going to set a goal for myself, to volunteer or donate my time to two different causes that I truly believe in. What are your plans for the new year? I have found that there is nothing more rewarding than helping a cause you truly believe in. If we all set aside a little extra time to help one another, I honestly believe our country would be in a much better place. There are two benefactors here. That maybe there is something to that Leave it to Beaver behavior that is fulfilling. The other aspect is, that no one person or family has the same likes. This is a benefit because, there are so many creatures on this planet now that we all need a little extra help. Thus, we create charitable diversity.

So let's get it started. Let's get inspired this year. Let 2012 be the start of a new way of thinking.

How To Lose Your Hair Like a Warrior

Leslie Moore, like most women going through the early stages of a breast cancer diagnosis, was hugely concerned about the loss of her hair. But ultimately she owned her hair loss by cutting it off in stages prior to chemo and then shaving it herself when the time came.
