Community Support and Outreach

Recently, someone I barely knew in the town I live in got word that she has stage 4 breast cancer and 9 brain tumors.Several of my friends knew her and her family and were floored by this news. I mean she is barely 40 years old. How can this be? These women had such compassion and selflessness that they decided to pull everyone together that knew this woman and start raising money for her cause. They made shirts and sweatshirts, spagetti feed, CYOS dinner and raffle, etc. In this fight I came to meet her and thought WOW! What a great lady. What a great thing. Why don't more people come together when people need it. Who cares if you don't know them. You might meet some of the most interesting, caring people this way. People appreciate it when you come to support them no matter if it is for cancer, autism, excersise, crafts,or being a new mom. The power of positive thought supercedes everything else. Come on who doesn't like knowing they are supported in the decisions the make. Seeing how many people came together to support this woman in her fight for life, really got me thinking and well here I am sharing it with you. We need more of this in our communities. My husband lost his mom 3 1/2 years ago to breast cancer that metastasized to her head after fighting it for 8 years.I sure wish she had a support group like my new friend has. How many people out there are fighting or struggling all alone? It doesn't have to be that way. Support and reach out to someone, even if you don't know them. You may be missing out on a good friendship.
